Technology Insight 4: TNO’s Miniplant & onsite CO2 capture services
Based in The Netherlands, TNO is the country’s largest research, development and consultancy organisation. Our fourth Technology Insight introduces TNO’s high-spec facilities, including its CO2 Capture Miniplant, which provides companies – including waste-to-energy operators – with the opportunity to explore process optimisation possibilities.
TNO’s research teams include experts in carbon capture research and development, who have developed this state-of-the-art equipment and provide advice to companies looking to strike a balance between what is technically feasible and economically viable.
The organisation, which has its headquarters in The Hague, built its unique mobile CO2 Capture Miniplant at its Delft research facility several years ago to conduct onsite testing of post-combustion carbon capture from different types of industrial flue gases.
Following 10,000 hours of capture operations and numerous test campaigns, the Miniplant has been so successful that a second unit has now been built.
